Struggling to cope at Bedmond
The English Club involved in the most goals this season is Bedmond Sports & Social Club of the Herts Senior County League. This team has the highest aggregate of goals for plus goals against - a grand total of 135. Regrettably, Bedmond Sports & Social have only scored 14 of these - as Americans say, we'll leave you to do the math.
It seems that all is not well down at Toms Lane. Their website tells us that Paul Cope is the manager of both the first team and second team. It's possible that he is over-stretching himself with this responsibility and this is where the problem lies. Their forthcoming events include the ever-popular quiz, which is scheduled for April 2008 (damn, missed it!). Still, if your child plays for the under 11's, you will be asked to sign a declaration that you will cheer, clap loudly, never boo or hiss or whack your child around the head when you get home because of a dodgy backpass that cost a game. You can hear the "Southern Softies" cry already!
Somehow the boys in green and red have managed one win this season in the League, but the next one may be a long time coming. Let's hope the good times return - it was only 10 years ago that Bedmond Sports & Social were Cherry Red Books Feeder League Trophy runners up.
